Waking Up to the Real Problem

Our problems are internal, not external, and it is there, in our own consciousness, that the solutions must be found. — Dee Hock, Founder and CEO Emeritus, Visa

Waking Up to the Real Problem

The idea that our problems are internal and not external is not new. The late Dee Hock frequently mentioned it in his writing and work.

Many spiritual masters have also said the same thing for centuries, but today, a business leader's beliefs carry more weight for most people.

And after 13 years on my own inner leader journey, I’ve come to believe it's true.

However, the idea that our problems are internal just doesn't make sense to most people. So we just need to think differently? Not exactly.

Until we understand consciousness better and start our journey to higher consciousness, this will all be mumbo jumbo to most people.

When we say that our problems are internal suggests that many of our difficulties arise from within our consciousness and that the solutions to these problems must also be found within ourselves.

This is contrary to what most of us believe or do, and I’d suggest it’s also why so many problems persist and global challenges are mounting.

Every day we encounter countless social media posts, articles, and books telling us how challenging life and business have become due to rapid change in today’s world.

We all experience the impact of rapid change daily, so we all accept and believe that many of our problems are the result.

However, what if rapid change and all the many growing global challenges we face are not the real problems?

What if the real problem is that we’re accustomed to living and working based on Industrial Age thinking and practices?

The late Dee Hock described it as, “Deep in most of us, below our awareness, indelibly implanted there by three centuries of the industrial age, is the mechanistic, separatist, cause-and-effect, command-and-control, machine model of reality.”

Imagine that. We’ve all been unknowingly programmed by our parents, schools, and society to live in a world that no longer exists.

When everything changes so quickly, things like command and control, managing change, best practices, working harder, or even working smarter are no longer enough.

Which I imagine are practices that we all swim in to get things done throughout much of our daily life.

The world has moved on, but we haven’t. Industrial-age thinking and practices keep us stuck living in the past.

Would it make a difference to recognize that our thinking and programming are the real problems?

It certainly would.

Meeting the Challenge

Until we gain a new understanding and experience a new way, we can’t possibly believe it’s even possible or impart this knowledge to others.

That’s why our workshops at LeaderONE are proving to be so powerful.

Using simple visual designs offers new ways to penetrate the many layers and years of social conditioning that hold us back in a rapidly changing world.

Taken together, the portfolio of SpaceB designs is how I dropped so much of my social conditioning one step at a time. Each and every design I create has a personal, meaningful story behind it.

In our workshops, I share the deeper stories behind each design, and attendees share their insights and wisdom that are called forward from their encounters with the designs.

When we do this together, it’s even more powerful and effective.

"I have this embodied vibration experience and feel a lot of love here. It reenergizes me to continue working hard to bring that into my organization and make a difference in the world." — Claude Cloutier, Managing Director, Accenture Silicon Group

Much more is available when we learn to expand our inner capacities and increase our consciousness. Doing so makes us more creative, innovative, and a force for the greater good.

The LeaderONE Workshop will expand and improve your inner capacities in six key areas that inspire new leadership, greatness, and truth. View a sample portfolio of our SpaceB cards featured in our workshops here.

What I found curious was that the connection many in the workshop related to their telling was very personal and went well beyond the words in the quote. (a door opening of sorts)
