A door opens. Will you take it?
What I found curious was that the connection many related in their telling was very personal and went well beyond the words in the quote — a door opening of sorts. — Gwen Kinsey, Leadership in the 21st Century Workshop

A door opens. Will you take it?

I loved this quote from a good friend and colleague, Gwen Kinsey. It was part of last week's newsletter, but it was near the end, so many probably didn't see it. Gwen was one of several who shared similar observations from the Leadership in the 21st Century Workshop with the SpaceB cards.

However, I believe it's so important that I wanted to highlight it again in the week's newsletter. What the quote brings to mind is how important the many, many door openings have been on my inner leader journey.

In hindsight, however, I didn't view them as door openings at the time, only in hindsight.

Any one of these items might be regarded as just a nice happenstance. However, in this case, each event was the beginning of an opening to something more, often much more. I apologize for all the personal examples, but I don't know any other way to express them.

Here are just a very few examples:

  • There was a time when I walked away from my well-paying and ideal job with no next job to go to because I would no longer tolerate working for a company whose leaders engaged in unethical behavior.
  • The very first interview I did for my series 5 Minutes to Process Improvement Success, and being blown away by the depth and profound insights that were shared in what was to be the first of many.
  • The time I stopped what I wanted to say to mindfully listen to what my partner wanted to know about what I learned about dialogue from Joseph Jaworski and Susan Taylor.  We discovered how to allow the truth to emerge unannounced.
  • Completely stopping my work as the pandemic unfolded because I wasn't sure my work mattered. I didn't know what to do, and the following synchronicity that led to the creation of SpaceB or Space Beyond Boundaries.

What's behind it?

It was in 2017 that I had a growing sense that my consciousness was changing, and I had been experiencing personal change and change around me as a result. However, I didn't know if I was making it up or if things really were changing as a result in ways they wouldn't have happened otherwise.

During this time, I discovered the Three Principles and experienced a profound change in my understanding of how the mind works and consciousness. This led me to take an even deeper dive into the topic and interview seven experts. I had a sense they could answer my questions.

One of my favorite and most revealing responses came from Mara Gleason, Co-founder at One Solution:

Bill: In an earlier conversation with you, I shared my experience of observing things starting to change around me as I started leading myself and “being the change.” Can you share your thoughts on why this happens?
Mara: I think there’s something so profound in that, and I’ll try to talk about it simply because I think it can easily get lost and sound too abstract, but that’s the profundity of seeing humans are levels of consciousness because most people are looking for what do I do? Tell me what to do? What’s good leadership? Would you please give me the things that you do? The things that the great leader does. There’s really no juice for the squeeze in doing because doing is just a natural ripple out of a state of consciousness. And to your point, anytime someone leaps in their own personal understanding of their own mind or has their own shift in consciousness, they do differently without even realizing it, and then things change.

A door opening of sorts

The next phase of my work begins in May when we launch the LeaderONE online workshops and lessons with my two colleagues, John Ryskowski and Wolfgang Fiebig.

Each month and for the following six months, we will focus on one of the dimensions of the space beyond boundaries, e.g., Forward Thinking. Each month will be a valuable opportunity to open up the space beyond your boundaries and accelerate your growth.

The month will begin with an online workshop and one or two support sessions the following week(s). Attendees will also get access to the online learning lessons at leaderone.org.

Because we are still finalizing the details of what this program will look like, we want to make this special offer available now.

Anyone enrolled as a Sponsor member at SpaceB will be eligible to participate in the LeaderONE workshops and sessions at no additional cost.

This special offer expires on April 3, 2023. More information is available on the Membership page. (Note: I've extended this end date several days to allow more time for consideration since the original end date was today, March 31st.)

If you'd like to learn more or set up a meeting to discuss any of the above, please email me at bill@billfox.co or schedule a 20-minute call on Calendly.
